East Meets West Maki E is an owned and operated subsidiary of Pens Plus LLC, which is owned by Allen & Lillian Gross of Delray Ray Beach Florida. The name was generated by the fact that our pens are manufactured by one of Italy’s leading pen manufacturers, Stipula Pens ( West ), while being hand painted in Japan (East) by 2nd generation maki e master, Katsunobu Nishihara. It is our firm belief that Stipula is one of Italy’s oldest pen manufacturers and makes a superior quality pen that rarely ever requires repair, and we’ve matched this with the superb talents of Master Nishihara. Our aim is to produce amazing traditional and contemporary maki e pens in fountain pens, roller balls and ballpoints, and by selling direct to the collector without the aid of distributors and retail outlets we can produce these pens at very affordable prices. Each and every pen produced will come with a Stipula factory warranty and boxes, certificate of authenticity signed by East Meets West and Master Nishihara and a card from Mike it Work, which entitles the buyer to a free nib adjustment on they’re newly purchased pen Also, each pen produced by East Meets West will be hand painted, signed and numbered by the artist. There will be no unnumbered or silk screened editions, each and every pen will be GENUINE HAND PAINTED MAKI- E. We will also be offering some “one of a kind“ pens from time to time from this amazing young artist whose biography can be read on the “about the artist“ page. We will also be featuring other maki-e items such as boxes and screens as well as maki-e work by other leading pen manufacturers such as Platinum, Sailor and Namiki.
